The spiritual alphabet is a small work, which outlines the basic principles of Orthodox spiritual life, which bear the stamp of thought of the two great ascetic and writer Fathers, St. John of the Ladder and Ava Dhorotheut (6th century).
The book refers extensively to Scripture, the orthodox wisdom, and experience of the Fathers, every believer who strives will find precious counsel for life; as the beginner, who wants to chart his way to heaven, even the advanced one, who has some experience, would like to renew his spiritual powers and continue with more zeal his battle, the fight “not against blood and flesh, but against princes, and princes, and rulers of everlasting darkness, and against the spirits of evil in heaven ”(Eph. 6:12).
